Terms of submission
The EOSC-Life Training team offers funding towards training activities and provides expertise and guidance to help you organise successful and impactful training through our Training Open Call (OC).
This call is for training on topics relevant for EOSC-Life. Proposals can be submitted for funding to support the following activities (not mutually exclusive):
- Development of new courses or other training activities
- Delivery of courses or other training activities
- Capacity building
There is no restriction with respect to the training modality. Training courses can be face-to-face, online or blended courses. If you think you have an interesting proposal but are not sure if it fits the purpose of the OC3, contact Work Package 9 Leads.
Proposals should have at least two, but ideally more, Research Infrastructures (RI) as partners in the application.
Contributions do not have to be equal, e.g. one RI could provide expertise and the other RI could provide the use case and event organisation. RI applicants do not need to be part of EOSC-Life, but strong rationale why they provide additional value/expertise must be given.
As an additional measure to foster collaboration & exchange across RIs, successful applicants are requested to allow shadowing of trainers if of interest i.e. allow trainers from other RIs as observers to the course and if feasible during the preparation.
The application team needs to indicate who will be the lead applicant. If the proposal is successful the lead applicant will be responsible to distribute the funding among the applicant team according to the agreed budget.
Submission from EOSC-Life beneficiaries: If you are an EOSC-Life beneficiary, your institution will be able to overclaim EC budget and the work package leaders institute will underclaim EC budget to the agreed amount, this transaction will be finalised during the next amendment/reporting session. For members of EOSC-Life WP9 that plan to submit a proposal, they need to clearly justify why the activity will need additional funding. We suggest getting in touch with the WP9 leads before preparing the application.
Submission from non EOSC-Life beneficiaries: In case a lead applicant is not an EOSC-Life beneficiary, a third party contract will be concluded between the lead applicant's legal entity and the legal entity of a WP9 lead.
There is no restriction with respect to venue location as long as budget and travel time are within acceptable limits. For self-led online training, courses must be made freely accessible for the duration of the project. For all training, we suggest that you refer to guidelines on how to make training materials FAIR.
The quality of training and fit to the training needs of the EOSC-Life community are the main selection criteria, additional criteria include credibility of the timeline, maturity of the proposal (e.g. learning outcomes, clear budget breakdown), appropriateness of staffing, involvement of institutions from the EU13, and involvement of more than two Research Infrastructures.
- Proposals have to be submitted online via ARIA according to the guidelines and templates provided
- All members of the applicant team must register with ARIA and apply via trainingcall.eosc-life.eu where the proposal submission forms and further information is available
- Deadline for proposal submission is 1st November 2022 (23:00 CET). Only complete proposals submitted via ARIA will be considered.
- Expression of interest stage: Applicants should email the WP9 leads (eosc-life-wp9lead@elixir-europe.org) as early as possible but no later than 24 October 2022 with an outline of the proposal idea (min 1 paragraph, max 1 page) to discuss the proposal idea and ensure that it aligns with the theme goals and avoid duplication of activities.
- EOSC-Life Training open call might only cover part of the direct or indirect costs needed to develop or execute a training activity. Details shall be described in the proposal.
Budget will only be transferred after the completion of the training activities.
For selected proposals EOSC-Life and its partner infrastructures shall be entitled to use the title and the short description of the training activity, names and contacts of organisers to advertise the course. Selected proposals will include EOSC-Life logo and disclaimer when advertising the training activity, and they are welcome to engage with EOSC-Life to disseminate the activity. They will need to provide a story/blog after the training activity is completed.
The lead applicant is responsible for collecting consent to use personal information (e.g. names, photos, email addresses).
Personal data collected in the context of the EOSC-Life Open Training Call (name, email address) and any other personal data volunteered by data subject (i.e. role or specialisation) will be processed in order to carry out the EOSC-Life Open Training Call activities in accordance with EOSC-Life Training Call Privacy Policy.
